I’ve never thought much about hummus. It’s always been a simple, and humble dip in my eyes. Levantine in origin and chickpea in absolute, it’s often a back-of-house player in any meal. But not so at Hummus Brothers. Here, as well as being the namesake of the store, it’s a full blown for of the dishes. And a good one at that. Along with your hummus you can get a variety of assortments. Mine was chicken and falafel. You also get two pita (too much!) and a touch of salad so it’s up to you how you want to get this down, pocket or bowl-style.
The hummus was some of the finest I’ve indulged in, with a savoury, nutty creaminess that went down a treat. I was a bit more meh on the chicken which didn’t come across the most appetising. However, I was thrilled with the falafel. I had thought it might have been a bit too much of a chickpea-party but the fried falafel is crisp to the bite and seasoned well. Beef and guacamole are also options. I enjoy the direction of this Mediterranean eatery and if hummus is always this good, I’m more than happy to jump on the trend of this being a main.
