If you’re a fan of Asian-themed dessert flavours, has Toronto got the place for you. I’m rather enjoying my holiday time in Canada and Kekou Gelato joins the list of other inventive, interesting venues I’ve managed to check out. With flavours like durian, black sesame, roasted Oolong tea, there’s lots to discover from all spectrums. I sampled the peanut sesame and Hong Kong milk tea gelato and both were solid options. The flavours were proper and not just pasted on labels. Having these in the smooth airy form that is gelato is a bonus.
I ended up going with the white chocolate with red bean in a cup ($3.50) and this formed an awesome finisher for my evening appetite. The beans remain bitey and the white chocolate isn’t overpowered at all. None of the flavours sampled tasted overly sweet, so a good consistent balance that show that these guys know what they’re doing. Plus, staff are super friendly.
