The smells are as alluring as are the prices at Papaya. Both things were remarked on by other queue-goers at this busy Soho lunch stop, offering mostly Thai-themed dishes. But then random things, like sushi and dim sum. What? £5 got me the red curry chicken and the cashew nut chicken on white rice. Unfortunately my favourite part of the lunch was the rice.
The slices of chicken were dry and the curry sauce was sponged up by the rice completely. I guess the cashew nut stir fry was better, but the formerly fried chicken bites were reminiscent of freezer meal sogginess. I did enjoy the sauce here, flavours are nice and familiar. It was a messy eat that my white shirt survived, but unfortunately my impression of Papaya didn’t. Still, it’s awfully nice to have a cheap lunch option and the queues might suggest you could have better luck with some of the other choices.
