Hipster pseudo-Japanese haven for those south of the Yarra, at Mr Miyagi the music is loud, the crowds are plentiful and the food is reassuringly good. My friends and I popped along for my birthday dinner and we killed the requisite (thirty minute) wait at a bar nearby. The menu is little bites here and there/ sharing, and it is as pricey as it is extensive. We had a wide range of food items with some mixed success. It’s a popular joint and the decibel level of the venue is definitely up there with nearby Revs and the like. Mostly worth it too, there are a few gems in the fusion menu such as the beef tataki, Miyagi fried chicken, soft shell crab taco, and the corn ball. Some items like the duck banh mi are ridiculously priced, at $14 for a slide-sized bun of mediocrity. Cocktails are a plus too, so a decent hip spot if you feel like feeling mingling with the youth.
