I finally got around to trying Hot Star Large Fried Chicken. And large it most definitely is. With the powers of the ever useful Entertainment Book I had two-for-one. The fillet certainly lives up the claim of being head-sized. The meat is cooked to order and being a beast portion you should allow 8 minutes or so for your $8 chicken goodness to be ready. There’s a choice of four seasonings: salt and pepper, cajun, chilli and chicken salt.
The crumb is good, great crunch, thick and seasoned well. But I can’t keep feeling it left a salty aftertaste (MSG?) that wasn’t as satisfying. The Gong Cha is next door for a reason, I suppose. There are bones on the chicken which is a little trickier to navigate eating in hand but not so much with knife and fork. Not in the intended street way, but one step at a time, eh?
