I had a fantastic meaty fix at Andrew’s Hamburgers, one of Melbourne’s better rated burger options and it delivers an absolutely no holds-barred burger affair. You ain’t going to see a brioche bun or a herb aioli here, and the experience is all the better for it. This is classic burger venturing in it’s most purest form and one worth checking out for a reminder of what enjoying a burger is meant to be.
Anthony and I headed over for lunch, realising it’s only one tram stop away from the office. And one most worth taking. I went with the purity of the classical Andrew’s Burger with the lot ($12.50) in a beef option that came with bacon, egg, tomato, double cheese and a mayo substituted in place of the usual tomato sauce. Anthony and I also shared a massive, the biggest size we could order, serve of chips. There’s plenty of staff in this small joint meaning the burgers came out as quickly as they get eaten.
It arrived in a most glorious fashion, with piling bacon, inviting aromas of good quality beef, delicious melting-ness of cheese and barely a smidgen of a vegetable in sight. Super satisfying, super savoury and probably going to do some damage to the diet. This is in a huge bun and the serve is more than enough for any person. It certainly lives up to the expectations we had and is the best representation of a classic beef burger that I’ve had around these parts. Possibly not the thing you want to eat too often, but when you do, oh boy is it a good reminder of what one should be like! I might be hard to go back to Grill’d after this.
