Dated and slightly had to find, but with an affable charm and confidence about it that makes it worth a look in. Wonderful Garden is hidden away in one of the laneways of Collins Street and the decor would suggest it’s been here for a good part of Melbourne’s history. It’s a smorgasbord type affair meaning prompt and efficient service from the friendly aunty with everything thoughtfully priced.
My medium-sized lunch was a mere $7 with fried rice, sti fried tofu and pork and vegetables. She certainly managed to squeeze a lot into that pot and it made for a good emergency lunch. Slightly heavy on the MSG (or salt?) which I’d rather go without but generous serves of tofu/ meat and a classic Chinese takeout taste. Not bad.
