Aunty Peg’s, Collingwood

I’ve often walked past Aunty Peg’s on the way to work with some curiosity; I’ve heard they only do black coffees and it’s a part brewing house. I took along Christina for our first hip, purist coffee experience and we went with the fully fledged coffee flight with one filter brew from each of their three blends. The seating is bar side so you can enjoy watching the preparation as well as soak in the heavy industrial feel of the space.

If you’re a coffee aficionado you’ll appreciate the wealth and knowledge that the friendly and passionate staff, as well as enjoy the bustle and aromas of the packing next door.  The three drinks came in quick succession and I can appreciate the different notes in each one. It felt like a wine tasting, but more expensive. The first coffee was a smooth, rounded one, followed by a fruiter, spiced blend the third (being our favourite) was a heavy floral note. A nice change of pace for some pick me up in the morning and we were buzzed to go for the day.
