A special dessert edition, as I’m always on a lookout for a place for good sugar endings. Especially late night sugar ones. I heard good things. Well, not sure if good. More that it was over the top. Anyway, it was deemed worthy a try so back to Grand Trailer Park Taverna we went. I should mention I previously had the burger course here and was bitterly disappointed with a stale bun and lack of finesse in the components. Apparently it was good when it first opened. I was willing to give the another part of the menu another try, as I’m nice like that.
I couldn’t go past the campfire cake with all it’s caramel and sugar goodness and was stoked with the delivery. Peanut butter and maple cake with peanut butter parfait, peanut praline, popcorn and salted caramel sauce. What it lacks in delicateness it makes up in pure saccharine. I enjoyed it despite knowing each extra bite would make up twice it’s weight in fat later on. The dish does need to be deconstructed to eat it properly, it was just a bit too rich for the size, perhaps worthwhile being shared.
My fellow diners went with a shake and waffle option, which for once was the healthier option. Shake was average apparently. They do a decent job with the parfaits here although it was a bit too frozen for my textural preferences, should have been a bit closer to room temperature.
The store itself is a cool spot, with booths decked out as trailers and a hip, busy crowd that’s worth showing people to. Good people watching from the balcony as well. Handy wet wipes too.
