There’s a few Doughnut Times popping up all over the joint and naturally it’s something I’ll be keen to check out. However, it wasn’t really great at all and at six dollars a pop who do these people think they are serving such average fare? It’s also spelt wrong. The chain originally started from Brisbane and moved to Melbourne in the last year, originally starting in pop ups at Topshop. They did a heap of marketing and managed to get queues at their stores. The hype seems to be up about now.
But yeah, Doughnut Time isn’t for me and the issue is it’s just a bit basic in design, and although they are pretty and sound exciting it’s always a bit of a letdown. To be fair, I have tried a number of flavours by now (people keeping buying them for me thinking I’ll love it) with similar results, but the flavours rotate so maybe a good one will be in the mix. Base dough is simply too heavy and dense. Definitely not worth a queue but have a peek in the window before heading over to Short Stop or All Day. The ones at Countdown (ugh I mean Woolworths) are better.
