Surprise little hit that carries the Donutsam blessing for fantastic achievement in the field of donut excellence. The name and storefront reveal very little, with the previous store being a fish and chip shop as well. It’s all renovated nicely these days. These guys also do good with Shop Ramen around the corner on Smith Street, so props to them for adding to the already competitive donut game in town. Love the basic setup, it’s all about the donuts here. I was running past (literally, for that matter) to make it home for some final packing before dropping a friend off to the airport back home.
Range is donut excellent with a few long johns which is a rare sight around these parts, among traditional variants and more eclectic ones. The two I went for was the black sesame and coconut and the raspberry and yuzu custard. Both were interesting and innovative flavours and I was highly impressed with the fillings inside. Part of me wasn’t expecting the filling (blame expectations lowered down to Doughnut Time) and as well, the fillings was very, very good indeed. Dough was light, fillings and topping were tasty without being overly sugary or rich. Well worth the 90 seconds stop in. Fantastic!
