Brunch is truly my favourite meal of the day. It’s that point where you can deviate towards savoury or sweet or in most cases, usually both. It’s perfect for that lazy Sunday where you starve yourself just a few hours longer so you don’t have to endure the monotony of cereal or toast. On this particular Sunday we felt like a brunch place in Prahran, with our first choice closed for the holidays so Gramercy is a place we legitimately stumbled upon.
The Commercial Road location was perfect, away from the hustle and bustle of town but not feeling like a derelict village either. We sat in the half outdoor/ half indoor area which was a good mix of both worlds. They also played good music, which we enjoyed. On this particular day, and being a lazy Sunday we were pretty indecisive, with the two sided menu offering plenty of breakfast and day options.
We eventually decided upon the mushrooms and eggs on toast, Bircher muesli, corn fritters and a chicken burger and fries. So between the four of us we probably had all the menu bases covered! Coffee was enjoyable and the dishes didn’t take too long to come out. My mushrooms on toast were good, the goats cheese helped everything tie in together, though I do regret not adding in bacon which may have taken it up a notch. I sneaked a taste of the corn fritters which were good, it came on a beet root relish which elevated it to interesting. The other dishes were good too, I’m told.
Nice little spot, and a good locale for a hangover meal, heh.
