Back in the day I remember the guys downstairs heading over to Footscray to check out the burgers at a placed called 8but for a leaving do. So it must have been good. Eventually 8bit made it’s way over to the city centre, and based on my experience here I hope it ends at that. What’s with the mediocre burger chains being so prolific here? The store was very busy (though died down much more these days) with a handy location on Swanston. Service is of fast-food level with the pricing not being of fast-food level.
I had the Golden Axe which was a crispy fried chicken fillet, cheese, Sriracha mayo and slaw for $11.50 and the large beer battered fries for $6. The meat was way overcooked (look at that black!) and made for a pretty small burger considering the price. Bun was soggy despite having taken ages to arrive. Seriously looks like it wants to be put down. Chips were chips. By the way, the theme is rather pasted on, so that was a disappointment to my inner geek. And the food was a disappointment to my inner eater. Perhaps some of the glory remains in the original store, but for this one, avoid.
