The Borek Bakehouse is a borek’s throw away from the bustling QVM, so I decided to pop for a less crowded borek-based bite. Here, it wasn’t quite as good as the ones inside the market at The Borek Shop, but perhaps that was me due to coming at a later hour.
My choice was the original borek at $3 with a filling of spicy lamb but the issues here were that it was served room temperature, lacked filling and was much too heavy on the pastry part. Price is fine and on par with everywhere else but the servings are definitely larger in straight weight here. I just rather a bit more on the non-bread part, and much more on the filling, as my mother always told me it’s what’s on the inside that counts (possibly taken out of context).
